The Phase 1 Training Materials have been published online. These materials cover how the Scheme works, giving providers who choose to participate an understanding of the rules of the Scheme and their practical application.
National Childcare Scheme training is facilitated by local City and County Childcare Committees. Any questions regarding Phase 1 Training can be directed to local City or County Childcare Committees.

Phase 2 Training Sessions are now live and available to book on Eventbrite. These sessions will provide practical training on the use of the National Childcare Scheme’s IT system, covering both the service provider portal and the parent application process. They will start on 19th of August 2019 and will run until October 2019. All sessions across all locations are open to providers who are interested in participating in the Scheme.

Minister Zappone has released a statement on the development of the National Childcare Scheme. So far, over 2,100 providers have signed up to participate in the Scheme, which will open in October 2019.

Details on the Transition Support Payment for services who enter into contract for the National Childcare Scheme have been published.
The payment will support Early Learning and Care and School Aged Childcare Services to meet the administrative requirements associated with transitioning to a new Scheme. It includes supporting Services for the time spent familiarising themselves with the new National Childcare Scheme, ensuring that they will be able to meet and comply with all requirements. All services who enter into contract for the Scheme will be eligible to apply for the payment. The closing date for applications is Friday 13th September.

National Childcare Scheme Draft Regulations published
The Childcare Support Act 2018 (Payment of Financial Support) Regulations, which have not yet been signed by the Minister, are referred to in the NCS contract and the Explanatory Guide. These regulations are now being published in DRAFT form so that childcare providers can be fully informed of the terms and conditions of the new Scheme before signing up.

National Childcare Scheme Contracts and Explanatory Notes Published
To allow Service Providers to sign up for the National Childcare Scheme in advance of the commencement of the Scheme, the contracts will be available on PIP for activation until the Scheme commencement in October 2019 (after which all contracting and related activities will take place on the new Early Years Platform).

The Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Dr Katherine Zappone T.D., has announced that capital funding will be available to service providers who sign up to the new National Childcare Scheme. The funding will allow service providers to purchase ICT support which will assist them in recording and reporting children’s attendance.
Applications for capital funding are set to open in June.
